Well, May 25th is the day the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into effect. It’s more likely than not that any reader of mine already knows all about GDPR, but for those who don’t, it’s the most significant new framework for data regulation in recent history.

The New SCCs repeal the existing SCCs (dating from 2001, 2004 and 2010) and aim to address the entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation (“ GDPR ”) and the decision of the European Court of Justice (“ CJEU ”) in Schrems II. Recognise that the New SCCs contain Article 28 GDPR compliant terms.
